As a part of academic work, we, a group of 18 students, along with our mentor, set out to initiate "a project turned brand - Jail Se". We visited the Sabarmati Central Jail of Ahmedabad a couple of times to study the existing products manufactured by the inmates and their means of production. This paved the opportunity to design a new range of products, under the label of "Jail Se", to be fabricated by the inmates, for them to be able to earn a daily wage for themselves and to regain a sense of confidence in the process.

Hangaroo was one of the products developed for the jail brand. It was crucial to understand the existing materials, material sourcing and methods of fabrication possible inside the Jail premises. This initiated the concept building, eventually leading to the first stage of prototype development.
